During his time at the Connecticut State Hospital, Sareyan formed a public relations department for the hospital, which was actively involved in helping the community to better understand mental illness by producing radio dramas or arranging for newspaper features regarding the hospital and its patients.

Sareyan also later wrote The Turning Point: How Persons of Conscience Brought About Major Change in the Care of America’s Mentally Ill, which was published in 1994.
