Profile of Otis Grogan
The following is a profile of Otis B. Grogan written by Ted Neff in the Whispering Pines newsletter:
"Otis B. (Shorty, 6'3") Grogan, hailing from Spray, N.C. is Camp Marietta's representative from the South. He is a member of the Baptist church and a silk weaver by trade. He had been working in Vinton, Va. before coming to camp. Upon arriving in camp Shorty found to his dismay that pulling trees was just not convenient for a 6'3" frame, so he wended his way into the kitchen and for those four months or so he has been personal guardian of the dirty dishes. Quote "What a life!" Unquote. Shorty is a lover of the animal kingdom and to date he has a collection of nine cats and three dogs. The other day his opinion of the pacifism of his fellow campees was open to serious question because he found one of his beloved felines "daid as a dawnail." Shorty is very much interested in the farm project, and is looking for his release any day now. (But aren't we all?)"
