Profile of Lloyd Weed

The following is a profile of Lloyd Eugene Weed written by Ted Neff in the Whispering Pines newsletter at CPS Camp 8:

"There is an old saying 'from the frying pan into the fire' and that seems to be true in the case of Campee Eugene Weed. He had no sooner been graduated from Bluffton College, Bluffton, Ohio than he had to pack his trunk and report to Camp Marietta. Gene is the son of a Methodist minister and...the residence is Bluffton, Ohio. His career is definitely made up of music and more music, having majored in public school music in college, and he has an impressive background of choir directing experience. A gentle man and a scholar is this man Weed, and a quiet, reserved manner indicates thoughts towards high aspirations. Of course, there is a girl in the picture somewhere...at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin for the time being. Gene is making valuable contributions to the music life of Camp Marietta, giving voice lessons to a group of worthy aspirants. At most any time of the evening Gene's melodious voice can be heard coming from the chapel. And true to the tradition of his name he can really make those weeds in the nursery stand up and take notice. (Ed. note: One just can't miss a chance for a take-off on a name like that.) Gene is looking toward social work for detached service."
