Profile of Lloyd Shelley
The following is a brief profile of Lloyd E. Shelley written by Ted Neff found in the Whispering Pines newsletter from CPS Camp 8:
"From Darke County, 'the garden spot of Ohio,' we have none other than 'Pop' (Lloyd Emerson) Shelley, one of the first assignees of Camp Marietta. 'Pop' is the recognized leader of the farm bloc of CPS #8, worst enemy of the Co-op, and the next thing to eating is his yen toward baseball. Pop has been a farmer through and through since he was knee high to a pitchfork, and Oliver tractors are his favorite topic of conversation, that is, when he isn't ribbing someone. He is the proud possesor of the nicest head of skin in camp and he reports (sadly) that there is no such thing as a guaranteed hair grower. Pop is a member of the Brethren Church and is looking forward to detached farm service."
