CPS Unit No. 115, subunit 29, located at University of Chicago: Frank Billings Medical Clinic in Chicago, Illinois, subjected CPS men to experiments studying the physiological effects of high altitude.
Dr. Henry T. Ricketts directed this OSRD project focusing on aviation medicine at high altitude, in particular to determine the maximum altitude it was safe to fly without oxygen. The project, sponsored by the Frank Billings Medical Clinic at the University of Chicago, wanted to work with six men, but the Brethren Service Committee and the Mennonite Central Committee declined to participate in finding volunteers. One man, Francis Anderson, served as a volunteer from either February through December in 1943, or September 15, 1943 through January 17, 1944. (records not definitive)
