    9 C.O.’s are serving as ‘guinea pigs’ in experiments at the University of Minnesota to determine international standards regarding the minimum amount of vitamins necessary to sustain healthy adult life. Results should be valuable in making possible better use of available supplies, especially during the postwar period. Summary:

CPS Unit No. 115, subunit 16, located at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, subjected COs to experiments in physiological hygiene.

 

Dr. F. E. Bartell directed one part of this OSRD project on physiological hygiene sponsored by the University of Michigan from 1943 to 1946(?).  The project, under Brethren Service Committee oversight could accommodate up to ten men.  Dr. H. L. Randall directed part two of the same project, which could accommodate one man.
