CPS Unit No. 115, subunit 12, located at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, subjected CPS men to experiments on the effects of weather on ability to work.

Dr. Jerome W. Conn and Margaret Johnson directed this OSRD project sponsored by the University of Michigan and located at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.  Four to six men at a time rode a stationary bike five hours each day of the week in simulated tropical heat.  The experiment studied the effects of high humidity and high temperature upon metabolism, and thus the ability to work in tropical climates.  The contract ran from October 1943 to February 1946 with the Brethren Service Committee serving as oversight agency.
