Reflection from Victor Goering

Reflection from Victor Goering

Victor Goering recalled the following regarding his CPS experience:

"Dan Kaufman and I purchased a car when we transferred from New Jersey to Montana. Since gasoline was rationed, we requested some gas coupons for the trip from Kansas to Montana. A member of the McPherson County committee told me in no uncertain terms that CO stood for ‘cowards only’ and that our G__ d___ ancestors had started this war (meaning the Germans). We did not get any coupons but were able to get some from our folks and we also took along two five-gallon cans full of gas for the trip.”
