CPS Unit No. 115, subunit 3, located at Welfare Island Hospital in Welfare Island, New York, subjected CPS men to experiments in altitude pressure.
Dr. Charles Glen King and Dr. Kurt Lange directed this OSRD project on altitude pressure sponsored by Welfare Island Hospital. Running from February 8-15 in 1945, at least twenty-five men at a time volunteered for the experiment. The project was conducted by The Committee on Medical Research through the Nutrition Foundation, Inc. The experiment examined the effects of specially planned pre-flight and in-flight meals at various pressures.
